Clean Green 101: It’s cool to clean green!(a bright idea course!)

Are you ready to clean your home, dishes and laundry with less toxic products? Come to this class to learn what you can do with simple ingredients to clean, deodorize and reduce mold and mildew. We’ll cover the impact of a range of cleaning products on human health and the environment, learning which to avoid.The separate $10 materials fee (payable to instructor) covers a 3 item green cleaning starter kit and a folder with additional information and recipes to continue your ‘green’ transition.

Reduce Your Home Energy Costs!

You can’t do much about the cost of gas for your car, but there are many things you can do to lower energy costs in your home. Learn how to treat your home as a system and ways you can make it work more efficiently to save money. Ron has many years of experience in building and remodeling with particular emphasis on energy conservation and green building design. He tailors his seminar to the needs of the participants and everyone present will qualify for a free Home Energy Evaluation.

American Sign Language 1 & 2

Communicate with deaf or hearing-impaired family members and friends, or begin to learn a new, desirable work skill. Level one will focus on basic beginners’ vocabulary and sentence structure, including colors, numbers, greetings, family, animals and food. Level two will be a continuation with more non-verbal communication and signing in class. Specify session when registering. Course fee: $47; $52 Nonresident, Room: SHS 13

The Art of Happiness

Happiness is available to us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We tend to “chase it” by looking for it outside of ourselves in relationships, material possessions, or waiting for situations to change. But it’s within all of us and naturally abundant. In this workshop you’ll explore how to tap into this power and start living from your true essence.

Everyday Math...a Survival Course for Parents!

Do you wonder what “that lattice thing” is? Are you confused as to the spiral nature of Everyday Math? Looking for information on how to help your children in math? Then come to this workshop! We’ll take you through the vocabulary, the spiral curriculum and help you understand the algorithms used in the Everyday Math Program. In addition learn games you can play with kids to help them improve their math success.
Workshop will be scheduled once the school year starts. We’ll send home flyers with elementary school students, but let us know that you’re interested and we’ll get you on the class list! Call SCAE at 490-5145 to register!

Novel Writing

Have you ever dreamed of writing a novel? Maybe you have loads of ideas roaming around in your mind or a bunch of messy scraps of notes? Come to this class and learn how to put it all together into a book. Each week work on various aspects that go into creating a novel, for example character development, dialogue, and organization to name just a few! You will write/edit parts of your novel each week so bring a notebook, pen and any pieces of your novel. Be prepared to share and critique work. All levels of writers are welcome!

Are you an expectant or new father? Have you figured out how to fix the baby gear, but still worry about fixing your baby when he gets cuts, scrapes or a cold? This interactive workshop demonstrates hands-on activities like using a thermometer, dosing medicine and using a bulb syringe. We’ll also discuss infant nutrition; immunizations; dealing with fevers, common colds and dehydration; safety in the car or kitchen; parental anger; injuries such as burns, scrapes or choking and more! For more specific information, please contact STRONG Fathers Network at 459-2980. Course is FREE, but pre-registration is necessary!
